10 Detox Foods That Will Help You Lose 10 Pounds

Find out what the renowned Dr. Oz says…then find out how you can do it without any expensive products or plans.

Dr. Oz is probably my favorite person to pick on, maybe because he is always associated with the "gimmicky plans".  Recently, Dr. Oz came up with yet another detox plan that claims you will lose 10 pounds, naturally.  Most detox plans come across as unhealthy or extreme, and this one is no exception.  Sure, it's natural.  But, is it anything special?  No.  Let's take a look at why you'd what to detox in the first place.

Our bodies are natural detox machines.

If our bodies are natural detox machines, then, why do we need a special "detox diet"?  The problem is this:  we have mistreated our bodies and filled them with crap, yet we still expect them to work efficiently.  It's like putting sludge into your gas tank; sooner or later, your car will break down.  Same with the human body.  When you eat bad things (sludge), it gunks up your pipes (intestines, blood, etc…)  A detox is all about pressing a "reset" button and getting your body to do what it was always meant to do naturally.  A detox attempts to fix, or correct an imbalance, in intestinal health.

You don't have to exercise!

Hey, with some plans, you are even advised against exercise!  And, while that goes against every grain in my body, I do understand a bit about thermogenesis.  If you eat less, you have to conserve energy, or you'll bonk.  Again, using our car as an example; if you only put a 1/4 tank of gas in the car, you shouldn't drive across the state of Indiana, or you'll run out of gas.  But…eating less…doesn't that sound like a diet?  (Remember, a diet is defined as restricted eating.)  Yes!  In fact, a detox is typically about half the calories of your normal consumption.  For most people, that's about 1,000 calories a day less.  Follow that "diet" for a week, and you might lose two pounds, too!

Rule #1:  Eliminate these bad foods

Eliminate key foods including dairy and eggs, gluten, processed sugar, soy, coffee, soda, alcohol, beef and pork, creamed vegetables, and peanuts.  These foods feed "bad bacteria" in the intestinal tract, which causes you to hold onto the sludge.  Makes sense to me!  Most of these food items are on my list of foods to eat sparingly anyway.

Rule #2:  Eat these 10 foods

  1. Green leafy  and cruciferous vegetables
  2. Cold water fish
  3. Free range chicken
  4. Berries
  5. Apple cider vinegar
  6. Lemon water acidic fruit
  7. Herbal teas boost energy
  8. Unsweetened coconut milk
  9. Coconut oil
  10. Plant based protein powder
Yes, eating these foods will help you lose weight!  They are low fat (or healthy fat) and are high in fiber and proteins.  They fill you up!  Eat a lot of these, and you will probably lose weight.  But, most importantly, don't forget Rule #1, which is first and foremost, don't eat the "bad" foods.
